Darius Degher

Newer Post Home

Darius Degher's vivid and echoing poetry is born out of an impressive fusion of curiosity and compassion. With an explorer's instinct his poems map that borderline region between the material and immaterial worlds, from which he writes back with the kind of taut, intelligent lyricism and resonance which only comes from true poetic attention.

– Jane Draycott

Darius's poems have been published in various journals and magazines on both sides of the Atlantic. These include Measure, Smiths Knoll, Agenda, Nth Position, Equinox, Other Poetry, Red Wheelbarrow, Poetry Salzburg Review, Fire, and Italian Americana.

His collection To See the Sound will be published by David Robert Books in late 2013.

He teaches writing at Malmö University in Sweden. Darius is the editor of the Shipwrights Review, the literary journal of decentered English, which features short stories, essays, and poems by non-Anglophone authors. He has a MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in the UK and a BA in English and American literature from UCLA.

He is also a writer of songs, a recording artist, and a musician.
